THE WORLD

OF MAKEUP PRODUCT PLACEMENT

often feels like a rollercoaster ride through a beauty-themed amusement park. It's easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of glossy ads and seemingly flawless influencers, wondering if you'll ever find your way out with your self-esteem and budget intact. But fear not, amidst the chaos, there's a glimmer of hope.

By arming yourself with me.. you have at your disposal a personal artist to share my skills, a dash of humour, and a understanding that highlighting and contouring was SOOO not part of growing up like those Gen Z youtubers! Let's take a look together to see if we can get you off on the right foot!

CONTOUR VS BRONZER

CONTOUR:

Contouring involves using a product that is a few shades darker than your natural skin tone to create shadows and add definition to the face. Contouring is typically used to define the natural hollows of the face, such as the hollows of the cheeks, the sides of the nose, the jawline, the forehead, and the temples. It helps create the illusion of more chiseled features and can change the appearance of face shape. Contour products are often cool-toned to mimic the appearance of shadows.

BRONZER:

Bronzer, on the other hand, is used to add warmth and a sun-kissed glow to the skin. It's typically a warm-toned product that is applied to areas where the sun would naturally hit the face, such as the high points of the cheeks, the forehead, the bridge of the nose, and the chin. Bronzer is not used to create shadows or define features but rather to add warmth and dimension to the complexion. It can help to achieve a healthy, radiant look.

Contour VS Bronzer placement
Main Vs Brightening Highlight Placement

Accent Highlight & Main Highlight

MAIN HIGHLIGHT:

Think of your main highlight going in areas that you want a some coverage to hide redness/blemishes and to smooth out skin tone. These areas would be the beard area, cheeks, under eyes if you have darkness, and forehead.

ACCENT HIGHLIGHT:

Your accent highlight brings light to your face and is focused in the centre of your face. This would be between the brows and right down the bridge of the nose, cupids bow, and a bit on your chin. It also includes the inner and outer corners of your eyes.

LIP & CHEEK

I mean I feel like that one is pretty self explanatory!! Your cheek colour goes on your cheeks. And the same lip colour on your lips!

To get a lifted appearance with your cheek colour, apply it above the contour and keep the colour high and out of the apples of the cheeks- always blending up and back.

For more of a full rounded face, apply the cheek colour a little lower in those apples to bring fullness to the face.
