There’s something about physical pain that can take you right back to a version of yourself you thought you’d buried. That’s exactly what happened to me last week.
I hurt my back again and while the pain was tough, it was the mental spiral that wrecked me.
See, I’ve been here before. I lived in chronic pain for years. I was exhausted, constantly restricted, and disconnected from the version of myself I wanted to be. I was a mom who couldn’t lift her kids without bracing. A woman who felt limited in every way, physically, emotionally, and mentally. And it took from me.
It stole joy. It stole energy. It stole confidence. And honestly, it stole a little piece of my identity.
Experiencing an injury can be a profoundly challenging time, affecting not only your physical health but also your emotional and mental state. This page delves into supporting your body through injury naturally, exploring holistic and natural approaches to aid your recovery journey. Discover how to nurture your body and mind, helping you regain strength and resilience while navigating the complex path back to wellness.
This Time Was Different… But the Fear Came Rushing Back
I’ve done so much work to get stronger. I’ve built habits that support my back, I’ve trained consistently, I’ve fueled my body well, and I’ve stayed pain-free for a long time. So when I felt that familiar twinge again last week, my heart sank.
I spiraled. Not because I thought the pain would last forever but because I remembered what it once cost me.
So I pulled back from social media. From content. From clients. Not out of avoidance… but because my sole focus became healing.
Supporting My Body Through Injury Naturally
I promised myself that if I ever went through something like this again, I’d be equipped. And I am.
Here’s exactly what I’m using and doing right now to support my body from the inside out:
1. Protein for Recovery
Injury increases the body's demand for repair, and protein is the building block of that repair.I aim for 30g of protein per meal, especially post-workout or during inflammation flare-ups.
💪 What I use:
Shaklee Life Shake (2 scoops = 20g protein, packed with leucine, fiber, and 24 essential vitamins/minerals)
Build Protein (1 scoop = 10g, great for layering on extra clean protein)
Together, they give me the complete amino acid profile I need and they’re easy on the gut, which is important when your body’s already stressed.

🧠 Pro Tip: Protein also supports blood sugar balance, energy, and mood, three things I need desperately when I’m sidelined from my usual movement routine.
2. Vivix for Inflammation
Pain = inflammation. And while inflammation is the body’s natural response to injury, chronic inflammation slows healing and increases oxidative stress.
That’s where Vivix comes in.
It’s a powerful plant-based polyphenol blend that supports:
Cellular repair
Healthy inflammatory response
Protection against oxidative stress (aka cell damage)

I doubled up on Vivix during the first few days of my flare, and I felt the shift in how quickly my stiffness improved.
It’s like hitting the reset button on your cells. And when you’re trying to bounce back faster, that matters.
3. Collagen for Connective Tissue & Repair
A lot of people take collagen for hair and skin (which, yes, it’s amazing for!) but I take it for joint and tissue health.
Shaklee Collagen is:
A complete protein (rare for collagen supplements)
Packed with vitamin C + biotin for absorption
Backed by clinical results (proven improvement in skin elasticity, joint comfort, and mobility)

I use 2 scoops daily in my shake or stirred into my morning hydration, especially when I need extra repair support.

4. Intentional Rest + Nervous System Support
This might be the hardest part for me: slowing down.
But I’ve learned that rest isn’t a sign of weakness, it’s a sign of wisdom.
So I’ve:
Prioritized sleep
Reduced my training load
Leaned into breathwork, journaling, and light walks
Said “no” to things that don’t support my healing right now
One of the things that really supported my recovery was the Shaklee Rest & Rewind.

It helped speed up the healing process by allowing my body and mind to truly relax.
I remind myself often: “I’m not behind. I’m healing.”

Final Thoughts: You’re Not Weak for Slowing Down
If you’re walking through your own healing, whether it’s physical, emotional, or both. Please know this: You’re not alone. You’re not broken. And you don’t have to “push through” to be strong.
Your body is on your side. And when you give it the right tools, quality nutrition, intentional rest, and science-backed support, it’s amazing what it can do.
